I got this book for Christmas from my awesome husband. I didn’t get around to reading it until this month, though.
I absolutely adore David Sedaris. I’ve had the privilege of meeting him at a reading once. We’ve seen him a few times, and each time is just so enjoyable. I bought audiobook recordings of some of his other books and I must say they are just the best thing ever when you’re travelling alone.
His voice is calm and soothing, with a biting sarcasm that just makes you smirk playfully to yourself, like it’s a secret that only you have. Although I must caution that his humor is sometimes laugh out loud hilarious, which may be a bit disconcerting if you’re on a quiet airplane or in a restaurant.
This book was like some his others that I’ve read, but also included some readings that weren’t from his perspective. A fast, enjoyable read, that I’d recommend for anyone with a firing brain stem and enjoys laughing. Buy here: Link
