I’m on my own until Thursday evening. My husband is travelling for work until then, and with the storm bearing down on the northeast, my late night options for assistance are dwindling. Understandably so, might I add. I couldn’t in good conscience fault anyone who’d opt to stay in and not drive through late night ice and/or snow, to watch my kid for free.

I had some help on Monday, which I was wholly grateful for. However, due to limited scheduling, I was able to do last night by myself without any help at all. It was challenging to say the least. My evening consisted of putting my son in the cosleeper while I was able to get about an hour of sleep each time, until he woke screaming for food and a clean diaper. Once these needs were attended to, we began again.

With the storm coming through, it’s beginning to look like another evening of the same. I’m not sure if this will go as smoothly, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed. I’m lucky that my son is a such a well-behaved infant. He settles relatively easily, and usually fusses for pretty predictable things, such as hunger, wetness, congestion and loneliness. Still, I’m hoping that we can continue this trend, because I don’t think I’ll be able to make it if I have to stay awake all night. Wish me luck.
